To begin, as a group we started brainstorming some ideas of what we could make our campaign about. I first contributed by putting forward a few of my own ideas as well as going into more detail with the rest of the group about different subjects we could look at. Once we had the finalised idea which was animal cruelty, my next job was to create a powerpoint with all of our research we had previously done along with a few mood boards to present what we wanted our final outcome to reflect. I started by writing out a clear copy of the different tasks we had all been set as we all had different skills. I researched and found a few different pictures online and inserted them into the powerpoint, ensuring that I’m making it clear how we came to our final product. I also helped assist the models when getting ready for the photoshoot ensuring that everyone was comfortable.
I also contributed to the name of our group which we decided to all ‘Sleepy Streamers’. Once the name was given to us, I had the chance to use some of the skills I gained on softwares such as illustrator to create a logo. I began by sketching out a few different logos in my sketchbook, keeping in mind what my group wanted the logo to look like as well. Once I had a few different logo designs in my sketchbook, I switched to illustrator and began to create a few different logo designs. I found it challenging to try to incorporate a bit of everyone within our group into the logo as I wanted it to represent us. I wanted to create quite a simple and calm/ collected logo as I felt like ‘sleepy streamers’ sounds quite relaxing. Once I had all the different designs I then went back to my team and asked for their opinion. I lay all the different logo designs I had on the table and took a vote of which one they all preferred.
I found working in a team with new people write challenging at first because I wasn’t in my comfort zone and it was hard to connect with them as they were different students that were studying different subjects, however once the conversation started flowing and we started to come up with ideas I found it better. I liked that we were all skilled in different areas and so were able to teach each other new and exciting things. It was interesting to see people work on their craft and learn how to operate with a group of people who’s skills your’e quite unfamiliar with. It was also a good confident boost as at first working with new people could seem quite daunting.
