When looking at different ways to create moving images, I wanted to look at the most basic options first. I started off by looking at photoshop and creating an animation on it, however I found that stop motion was much easier and I was able to create better moving images with it.

I enjoyed using Stop Motion because I haven’t really focused on making a moving image as long but with this I got the chance to. I was also able to add sounds and experiment with different images and effects.

To begin with stop motion, I thought about using my own shapes that I would cut out with scissors and card. I liked the freedom I had to create a variety of different shapes and look at different materials and colour. However I wanted a finer finish. It was important for me to test out what the cut out card would look like as a moving image but once I took pictures, I could see that I didn’t want this type of finish. Instead I wanted a much more finer finish so I decided to experiment with illustrator and stop motion. This was useful because I had previously already used Illustrator but now I could experiment with different shapes and movement.

I think choosing the right software for creating my moving image was essential because I wanted it to look a certain way and have a certain finish. By testing out these different methods, I was able to come to a conclusion of what software I would use.

Using the stop motion app was also a really good way to expand my skills as I know that I will be using it in the future. I think I was more careful with my time, I would probably use photoshop to create my animation however stop motion was the fastest way to create it with the same quality of work. I found that I really enjoyed the process of making my moving image and seeing it slowly come together. I was faced with the problem of ensuring that each image linked to the next one and had to constantly transfer each image I would make on illustrator to my phone. Once I had some practise it was quite easy and so after some experimenting I was able to successfully create my moving image.
