I wanted to experiment with different softwares when it came to creating my images and also see what my digital images may look like. I experimented with different background colours before beginning my actual digital drawings. I chose the colours green, blue, yellow and purple in response to the answer I got for the question ‘What colours come to your mind when thinking about meditation?’. The majority of students answered with these pastel colours and I also feel like these specific colours are quite calming and its nice to see the contrast between my drawing and background. I chose to do a digital drawing of a tree because again, when people were illustrating what came to mind when people thought of meditation, a lot of the responses were plants and nature. I wanted to produce a detailed drawing, so i took the response from the survey and added my own detail into it to see how far I could take the drawing. The main software that I would be using is Illustrator. I found that the quality of the drawings I produced were better on this rather than paint or using my phone.
However by experimenting with these softwares and different ways of drawing my images I was able to come to a conclusion about the different tools I wanted to use for my final outcome. However because I was experimenting I do feel that this process was rushed. I think my work would’ve been strengthened if I had explored even more softwares, but also looked at different materials I could use and not just digital drawings.
From doing this drawing, I realised that putting in too much detail into a drawing can be quite distracting and so I would want to tone down the amount of detail I put into my moving image. It was also very time consuming to create only one drawing and it would take an extremely long time to create multiple drawings with so much detail. Therefore this was effective for me because I was able to realise that too much detail was not needed and what makes a good moving image is simplicity.
