Research for FMP

To begin, I started doing research into meditation and the benefits of it. I found that the research I was doing was quite broad and wasn’t leading me to any direct information that I could include into my work. I wanted to make sure that I was looking at a broad range of resources for my research so I included a book, blog post, podcast and information I found online. In the first week of doing my research I felt that my research wasn’t as successful because I hadn’t answered enough questions to help improve it. It was more of a brief understanding of meditation to begin with. When doing my research I wanted to focus on the different types of meditation that I could later include into my book that I will be making. It is important for me to gather as much as I can because I want the book to be quite informative for young students at university coping with the stress. I created two mind maps with the types of meditation and a few pictures to show the scientific benefits of meditating. One mind map included a podcast which was interesting as being able to hear other peoples take on meditation and whether it was successful for them or not helped shape what my final outcome would be. From listening to the podcast I found that its quite difficult at first to meditate but its about practise and really focusing on yourself and how you could better yourself. This is important information because I know now that I need to include this into my book to make other students aware as well. I also chose to look at a book called ‘Great Thinkers’. This was helpful because I was able to look at the history of meditation and get a better understanding of where meditating came from. I took pages from the book and highlighted the parts which I believe were most important.
