To begin the process of creating my illustrations, I looked at different materials that I could use, including pencils, acrylics, oil paint and pastels. I found that experimenting with these different materials helped me to come to my final decision that I wanted my final piece to be mainly digital and if I did use any materials that I would print them off and stick them into my book.
Also because I came to the conclusion that I wanted to mainly do digital work, I chose to focus on making a book as my final outcome which would display all the illustrations I made. I also used the previous research that I did on artist to choose similar styles to work with. I specifically chose to look at Mike Perrys work because I’m interested in his use of colour and how a lot of his work is full of energy and is quite abstract. Therefore the previous research that I did was useful to me when I began creating.
I used Illustrator to begin creating my sketches and played around with the same image to create patterns and different gradients of colours. I was able to gain new skills and find a new way of creating colourful images on illustrators using a variety of different tools. I think if given more time I would’ve looked at more softwares and experimented with more materials when creating my final piece.
