I created my dust cover for my book using Illustrator. To begin I decided on what colour I wanted to use. Because my book cloth was similar to this colour, I decided to go for this colour. I wanted it to be simple and grab your attention as soon as you look at it. For this I used a bright yellow colour to compliment it. This is where my research for book covers was useful as I used Helen Yentus’ chaotic ideas. Instead of using tape or other materials (as I didn’t have the time) I used the twirl tool. I think I was able to successfully create a bold front cover. If I had more time I would’ve added more writing, putting my name on the spine of the book and add more shapes and detail into the spirals.
