Visual communication – group work

I found this task went really well for my group. We originally wanted to create a simple shadow and light font by cutting out fonts and sticking them on the window. However we realised that by the time we present our work the sun light would not be the same and so we wouldn’t get the same effect. So instead we came up with the idea of creating an illusion for our font. From a certain angle it just looks like masking tape on the floor but from another angle you can see it looks like its straight. We overcame different challenges such as finding a way to make the masking tape visible on white walls, making sure the measurements were right and it didn’t look out of place. We accomplished this by using a laptop and keeping the webcam on our location so we would always be able to see if we were making any  mistakes. This task was the most interesting one I have done and overall I really enjoyed it.

Everyone contributed to the team with new ideas on how to make it look better and if something wasn’t right with the font, no one was afraid to speak up and voice their opinion. This was good because we were able to work as a team and take each person criticism an praise on board.

If we had more time, we were thinking of making the font a bit thicker by layering more masking tape on top, however we decided not to because it could ruin the measurements and so it could begin to look out of place.
