Using the app stop motion I created this animation, after a few suggestions from the tutors of making my drawings more simpler so it would be easy to animate, I created the image above. I photocopied it and added layers of different details onto each photocopy. I wanted to incorporate both a drawing but also physical movement of the paper which is why I started with the paper scrunched up and slowly straightening out. In the beginning I didn’t check if the drawings I was making would turn out like an animation so I found that I had to continuously go back and make changes or start the recording again. Instead of recording the whole animation and watching it back at the end, I would stop half way through to check if it looked like what I wanted. Overall I was pleased with the outcome. My first sketch was very difficult to keep the same and so when I took pictures of the different sketches it didn’t look as good. I think the drawing and the movement of the animation is quite successful however I do think it could’ve been longer to create a more interesting story, but overall it was a good experiment.
This is the first drawing I did, where I wanted to focus on how self centred everyone has become and how we always want to look our best. It is meant to show the extreme lengths that women go to be considered beautiful. However I didn’t end up choosing this as it was difficult to add all the detail
I then changed my idea to making a smaller and simpler animation of the pressure that is put on teenagers and people who work. The animation shows a girl sitting on her desk whilst a ton of papers fall down onto her desk. Her expression automatically changes from happy to confused and sad. This is to symbolise how sometimes were given too much work.
