The task on the second day was to create a structure made of spaghetti that could hold three balls up without touching one another, using glue gun as the adhesive. I found this particularly challenging as it was a trial and error method. I started by sketching out a few designs but nothing in too much detail and once I had a few ideas I used the glue gun and just began to experiment. After the structure collapsed a couple of times I was able to create a firm structure to hold all three balls. This required a lot of patience and focus. Before creating this, I began looking at different structures of buildings and how things are able to be held upright without losing balance or collapsing. Focusing on the main structure of the O2, mainly because it was the closest one to observe. When taking photographs of my structure I found the different shapes and patterns appealing to look at and felt that it resembled the shadows of different buildings as well. I was able to see my potential when creating this, as in the beginning I couldn’t rap my head around the idea and felt it would be impossible, but once I started creating the structure I found that there were many ways that this could become a success
This is a picture of the everyones different outcomes, it was useful to see the different types of ways people were able to create the structure as it showed me the different possibilities. It was nice to hear other peoples issues with creating the structure as it showed that the majority of people went through the trial and error process.
This picture was taken by holding a flashlight near the structure to create an interesting shadow that almost looks like a building. The different lines and circles of the shadow remind me of the O2. I wanted to capture the bottom of the structure to show how fragile it is. You can see that its slightly tilted but I think it helps create a better shadow. By taking these pictures against the white background, I learnt important photography is. The structure without the shadows isn’t as interesting with it.

Once we had created our structures, we needed to make a shelter to protect it from getting destroyed. We were given the maximum of 4 papers and an arms length of masking tape. I found it quite challenging to cover the whole structure but decided to just cover it as best as I could and hoped for the best. It unfortunately was destroyed and so wasn’t successful.
