On the first day of 3DCP rotation, we were given a difficult task to reminisce on all the birthday presents that we had previously received. Using an A1 piece of paper I wrote out all of the gifts that I could remember, making the sheet look as visibly appealing as possible. This was difficult as we couldn’t draw any objects or illustrations as we could only write. This taught me control but also that you can make something look just as appealing with limited illustrations. With this project, personally for me it was interesting to the how the process lead to the final piece and also allowed me to understand how a process can lead to something greater. Once I had cut around the letters to create a stream like effect, as a group we came together and strung all out work on a line. Behind it was a projection of beautiful colour. This created spiralling and unique shadows and shapes all throughout the projection. We were able to create something so visually appealing with just an A1 sheet of paper.
This is the process of cutting out the white spaces to create the stream. To begin it was successful however, some letters were cut off and I wasn’t able to get rid of as many white spaces as I wanted to. If given more time, I would’ve cut the white spaces out more finely to create a better stream of words so it would look more appealing on when hung in front of the projection.

Once our streams were hung, we used them for inspiration to create three items that we remembered and had written on to the paper. Using only scissors and A4 paper we cut out different objects and placed them onto the floor creating interesting shapes. From this project, I liked how things slowly began to come together and at the end everyones contribution created a beautiful final outcome of different shapes and shadows.
