I looked at 3 different influencers within the art, fashion and musical industry. I decided to look at Jazz, Abstract expressionism and South Asian fashion/ the change over the years.

For my previous project which was ‘descent’ I had very little research to begin which made it difficult for me to come up with my final piece, it was this mistake that made me do more research for this project. I enjoyed being able to research from a variety of different sections and found it interesting how we didn’t have to look directly at fashion but we could look into Art or Music. This showed me that fashion is inspired by many different things. I enjoyed looking at South Asian fashion because it gave me a chance to reflect on the fashion and the change within my community. With this research, I didn’t want it to just written out. The number of different research methods we learn in fashion was helpful. Before this I would’ve just written everything I found on the internet, however to make it more interesting I created collages and my own drawings and responses to artist. I did include some writing for my research because I personally felt it was interesting, however I created timelines and small details so that it wouldn’t become to boring and pages filled with words and no images.

The research that I did was helpful to contributing to my final piece as once I had the options I chose to look into abstract expressionism. Without the research I wouldn’t be able to come to my final piece.
